SRSunlit Roost Cattery

About us

A family cattery, not a business park

We started in London in 2016 with one blue British Shorthair queen and a promise: no cages, no more litters than our home can properly raise, and no kitten leaving without documents a buyer can verify. Ten years later we breed from five countries, but the rules have not changed.

How our kittens are raised

Queens give birth in a quiet bedroom and move with their litter into the living room at around three weeks, which is where the kittens stay. They grow up with the noise of a normal household — a doorbell, a vacuum cleaner, children, guests, our retired cats — because a kitten that has met the world settles into a new home in days rather than weeks. Every kitten is handled several times a day from birth: eyes wiped, claws clipped, teeth checked, carried, cuddled and put in a carrier so travel is never a shock.

Our breeding rules

  • · A maximum of two litters per queen per year, and retirement by five years old.
  • · Retired queens and studs stay with us as neutered pets for life.
  • · Every breeding cat is HCM-scanned and DNA-tested before it is ever mated.
  • · No kitten leaves before 12 weeks, fully vaccinated and microchipped.
  • · Every kitten is sold on a spay/neuter contract unless you are a registered breeder.
  • · If a placement ever fails, the kitten comes back to us — at any age, for life.

Why five locations

Long-haul flights are the hardest part of buying a kitten from abroad. By keeping small catteries in Ohio, London, Singapore, Perth and Istanbul, we can usually place a kitten a short journey from its new family instead of a day in the air. Each location is run by a member of our family or a breeder we have worked alongside for years, and all of them follow the same rules and the same health screening protocol.

What we ask of you

We will ask about your home, your other pets, your children's ages and whether anyone is home during the day. It is not a test — it is how we choose which kitten suits you. We would rather ask you to wait six weeks for the right kitten than sell you the wrong one today. And once your kitten is home, our WhatsApp stays open: diet, litter, vaccinations, introductions, insurance, holiday care — ask us anything, for as long as you have your cat.
